Hi folks, moved to gorey last year and want to get back fishing again. An avid angler upto a few years ago,in recent times i've not had the time with work and so on.I've always done fly-fishing and also pike and a bit of sea fishing....Any advice on trout or pike fishing in North Wexford or South Wicklow greatly appreciated

The river Slaney from Enniscorthy railway bridge to Kildavin is all private water and the fishing rights are held by various owners and syndicates. In courtown/Ballycanew there is the Owenavorragh River. have a look at the link below it names the rivers and fishing rights in the county http://www.fishinginireland.info/trout/east/wexford/owenavorragh.htm

Sorry the Slaney is not a course fishing river, The river is tidal from ferrycarrig bridge to Enniscorthy railway bridge. Salmon, Sea trout " white trout" and Brown trout. but to be honest the stocks of salmon and sea trout have rapidly declined over the last 15-20 years river. Eels used to be plentiful in 70s and 80s while Buttles pig factory was in operation and used to release the pig blood into the river back then but again the eel stocks declined since the factory closed. Your best bet for a bit of course fishing would be Oaklands fishery in New Ross or if your wanting to fish for rainbow trout then try Loch Mahon lakes near Adamstown.
