Social welfare inspector house visit

Hey, got a letter that a social welfare inspector will be making a house visit with a list of documents that I need to provide for the visit. I'm suspicious as to the reasoning behind this visit, have been on benefits before and this didn't happen, all documents listed have already been issued to them with my JSA application which I only submitted early last week. Are they simply going to come and look at these documents to see if they match what I've already given them or? The only documents not listed that I submitted with the application last week is documentary evidence of my attempts to find work, will they look for this even though it's not listed. Is there a reason that there is a house visit and I don't just call in to the office? Are they going to ask questions about my living situation or things they see? It just seems strange to me for a house visit to see documents? I don't know, anyone got any info?
    Thanks

You've prob been red flagged and it's gone up the chain of command to an investigator

Keep your hands in your pockets and don't reveal any unnecessary information.

Seriously ....Nothing to worry about if all's above board

    Are you living with anyone?

I have had two Social Welfare Inspector visits. One unannounced and one by appointment, both at my home.

They both arose after two separate occasions applying for Disability Allowance but I suppose any new claim for welfare can result in a visit.

My feeling was that he was just checking that I was who said I was, lived where I said I lived with people I said I lived with.

You have nothing to worry about if you tell the truth and these guys are trained to find the truth.

    Some advice about the visit...

When the inspector comes in your home immediately ask him/her if he/she wants to have a look around your home. This will inevitably result in him/her not looking around your home and shows you have nothing to hide.

Answer all the inspectors questions but don't add any information that is not asked for.

    Good Luck.

That’s very good advice Norris. Nothing to hide, nothing to worry about.
