    Surly Cross Check 54cm. Frameset is about 8 years old but very low-mileage and well looked-after with hardly any scratches. Has lots of new and recent parts, including Planet-x handlebar and stem, Fizik bar tape, Mavic Aksium wheels and Vittoria 32mm tyres and Tektro RX6 mini-v brakes*. Charge saddle, Shimano Sora STI (8-speed) gears, Stronglight 50/36 compact chainset, Shimano SPD/platform combo pedals. Blackburn rear rack, Cane Creek headset.

    *Can also supply the original Tektro CR720 cantilevers if you want 'em

    If you don't know much about these bikes, they are well regarded for their swiss-army-knife versatility, suitable for touring and commuting and I've even done a couple of cyclocross events on it. Has the right semi-horizontal dropouts for running fixed wheel or SS if you choose, while 132.mm OLN rear axle spacing is designed to take either road 130mm or MTB 135 hubs. And, of course, you can fit tyres as thick as 42 mm on it.
