We are currently living abroad & have a 2yr old & another baby on the way. We have been trying to get back to Ireland for a while but the job market we are in is very competitive & limited chances at the moment. Have our son down for a number of schools in Cork as were hoping to get back to Cork but job opportunities looking like Dublin will be a more likely option for us. Have no idea where we would end up living if get a job in Dublin - housing market & where job is will dictate that. Have rang schools in Dublin & still sounds like a first come, first served basis so obviously will be bottom of the list, schools I have rang said to put names down for as many places as possible & that they work off waiting list & catchment area with no more specific advice for anyone who is moving back to Ireland from abroad. What has anyone else done in this situation? Do I start putting the kids down for schools scattered all over Dublin & other cities too to cover all bases?? Feel like I could be applying for half the schools in Ireland!!

Every school operates its own admissions policy at the moment so you'll have to apply to each one individually. Have you narrowed it down to any general areas of the county? There might be no point applying to some schools at all.
