    Hi All

I work in IT and have been in a position since February. Its fine and i get on grand with everyone there

However a position has opened up in a very desirable company , a little closer to home . Its a position that i am very interested in

I was wondering how to explain why i want to leave after 4 months ? I dont want to berate the current company or say its a bad fit, because the job is ok, its not great but its ok and i am treated well

Should i just say in the interview that the new position and company are something i have sought for a while and the positions dont come up often and now that one has come up, i owed it to myself to apply and that i see it as a long term role and very suited to myself. and also its a little closer to home

Would that be ok for the interviewer do you think ?

I think just tell the truth?

    > a position has opened up in a very desirable company , a little closer to home . Its a position that i am very interested in

    That's completely reasonable.

I would not necessarily be concerned at all about this, unless your CV shows a pattern of such behavior at several companies.

    Ok thanks

No I don’t have a pattern of this on my cv. Most positions are for at least 2 years

    Thanks for the help

Telling the company you are interviewing with that you want to change jobs because their's is a more desirable company to work for is a good thing, would be seen as a positive, and would show that you have done a bit of research on them. I always take it as a positive if a potential hire knows a bit about the company.
