Door issue on Renault Kangoo van

    Hi folks,

I have a quick question for some of the more mechanically minded guys and gals on here. I have a 2012 Renault Kangoo 1.5 DCI van and I'm having an issue with the drivers door. There seems to be something wrong with the door that's causing the "door open light" to stay on the dash. So I can be driving away and this light will come on telling me a door is open when they are in fact all closed. it will also beep annoyingly and then worst of all, when it's on, I can't lock the bloody van! It comes and goes but has been getting steadily worse recently. I believe it's a known issue with Renault vehicles.

My problem is, I'm finding it hard to get it fixed both by myself and mechanics. Mechanics don't seem to want to touch it for some reason, maybe it's because doors are fiddly or something. I don't even know what's causing it: a sensor, switch, lock, hinge?! If I could just find out what is causing the issue I can buy the part and try and get a mechanic to fix it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    P.

Logic thinking comes in hear. What tells the computer the door isn’t closed it’s the switch so ur down to two simple things hear it’s either the sensor on the door frame or the wiring to it.

    Very very easy fix.
I find in general tho people don’t like touching the likes of Renaults unless the are actually fimiliar with them.
Me on the other hand I like a challenge but even that wouldn’t take more then a hour to sort.

Where are you based, I'll come over now! :D

I am not mechanically minded at all and don't really understand cars, I wouldn't even know where to find the door sensor. I've had two mechanics look at it and all they door is grease it and wire brush a few things which does nothing. Frustrating, maybe there is something about Renaults.

At least that narrows it down, many thanks.

I’m in Naas. Ah greasing the doors hinges and that won’t do I thing at all.

There’s such a simple way to check this switch by bringing the wires coming to it. It’s two wires and all it does is open and closes the circuit.
