Looking for suggestions to replace a VW Golf 1.4 2005

budget is 10k, but its very difficult to find a petrol replacement - being told to stay away from diesels

mileage would be low, with car parked up few days a week, with a 150km motorway run twice a week

    what would you buy?

    Nissan Leaf?

If most of your driving is motorway though a diesel wouldn’t be unsuitable. Parking it up doesn’t do damage :)

Maybe something like a Toyota Auris?

    https://www.carsireland.ie/detail.php?ad_id=2013334&r=s.php%3Fm%5B%5D%3D88%26o%5B%5D%3D1154%26f%3D1%26b%3D2%26yn%3D2012%26pp%3D50%26g%3D0

1.33 litre petrol is very good on fuel and well able to keep up with motorway driving. The father has that same engine in the previous generation Auris and it hasn't given a day's trouble in the 7 years he has owned the car.

Get a nice petrol motor from the North, that is what I did.

What did you buy in North?

Audi A1 1.4TFSI Sport with 10K miles on it, granted it was 15k when I finished but there are sub 10k and 9k available that would be less vrt. As other poster suggested look at SEAT as they're better speced in the UK
