    Hi there,

A group of 6 lads in their mid 20s heading to Colombia for a month at the end of June and would love some recommendations. We're flying in and out of Bogota but plan to spend a lot of out time up north and of course Medellin. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! ðŸ˜

You will have a blast. Incredible country. Do the cycling tour in Bogota but be careful there at night and choose where you stay carefully. It's a cool city as long as you don't do anything stupid, but it can also be dangerous.

Have you thought about hiking to the Ciudad Perdida in the mountains near Santa Marta? Santa Marta itself is not great but the trek is class. You can then relax after in a beach town like Palomino which is nice or in the national park nearby.

We spent time in Cartagena which may be better for couples but is still really nice and headed off to visit some of the islands from there (Playa Blanca I think) and did some diving. Consider heading to the island of Providencia if you have time.

I went to the Amazon in Leticia and it was only OK - Brazil is probably a better place to explore the Amazon from.

From there, San Gil is the adventure capital of the country and you can go paragliding, rafting or mountain biking. I also spent time climbing near Villa de Leyva hiking which was great if a little quiet.

I never made it to Medellin or Cali as I was caught for time but I will on my next trip.

Colombia is top of my list in terms of all the countries I have visited. It's still only opening up to tourism after the dark years and the people are friendly and genuinely interested in talking to tourist.

Enjoy every minute of your trip. I did two weeks with my wife and two weeks on my own and had zero hassle.
