    low idle CO 1.99 vol% above 0.50%
    High idle Lambda 1.01
    CO 0.00 vol%

Car is 1 litre, same problem last year and I was told it was the cat changed that and it passed the second test even though the cat is more of a high idle problem. The nct mechanic said it was misfiring.

How does the car run, is the idle lumpy, revs go up and down.

Misfire could be a coil or spark plug issue, not a major job.

    Yeah running lumpy at idle.

I'd have that idle issue checked out.

When was the car last serviced, could be a simple matter of checking/replacing the plugs, or cleaning the throttle body.

Did the "check engine light" ever come on?

It's well overdue a full service check engine on all the time, I got a mechanic to check it with diagnostic and all he did was turn off the light.

Ok, check engine light would help narrow down what the main issue could be.

Older Yaris, are fairly hardy cars.

Might be time to get a new mechanic, if turning off the light was all he did.

Another mechanic and a full service could resolve this issue.

    Hi Folks,

    Previous reading

    low idle 0.02 pass
    lambda 0.99 pass
    high idle 0.45 fail

Now I have cleared nct with no problems

    low idle 0.15 pass
    lambda 1.01 pass
    high idle 0.17 pass

    Solutions used

    1. Diptane with reide of 20 min on fourth gear before nct
    2.Change of flexi pipe

Usually i was told if flexi exhaust is worn or broken nct guy tell you.But they did not tell me.My mechanic found it out.So in near if any fails on emission please check flexi pipe by giving a glance at it instead of wasting money putting cat, o2 and lambda sensor.Start with this its pretty easy.

Hope this helps anyone failing on high idle co emisson.

    Thanks

So you have a misfire. That cylinder that is misfiring becomes no more than an oxygen pump. The lambda sensor sees a huge glut of air every time that cylinder is on its exhaust stroke and thinks...this engine is running super lean, best increase the amount of fuel injected to compensate. And you get high emissions. OP first sort out your misfire and find a good mechanic not a parts swapper.
