Hi, looking to purchase a volvo XC60. Years from approx 2009 to 2014 approx.

I only have a limited budget so looking at ones with more than 70k miles on them. Manual gearbox and emissions 170 or less.

Does anyone have any experience owning these cars and would one with 70k miles on it be looking at a new clutch or bills for any inherent design flaw?

    thanks

We're on our 2nd XC60 since last year - a 141 FWD D4 replaced a 2010 AWD D5. Very early (09/10) models didn't have a centre screen in the dash - small screen at the top of the dash and a big blank bit of plastic where the screen is on later models.

Couple of minor issues with oil level too high on the D5, but that's mainly when it wasn't being used enough (wife's daily commute is 6km each way - not ideal diesel usage) and apart from that and standard servicing we had to replace one Xenon, that was covered under the Volvo warranty we got. Went from 120,000km to 170,000km in the 5 years we had it. That was bought by the service manager of the dealership we traded it in to against the new one.

Had an AWD D5 auto for about 5 years, it was a 2009 model, a bit agricultural, but strong, loved the engine, great torque and sound of the 5 pot was beautiful.......had one problem with the steering column lock electronics that let the wife down a couple of times and had to be towed, car wouldn’t start, other than that, they’re a bit heavy on juice, tax was 1200 on the D5 and they eat front tires. On the positive side, really solid, great seats and very practical family car with oodles of space and a great boot.

    That's very good information.

There are two 2018 petrol AWD T5's in Spirit Motors. A bit expensive, but great looking cars and the XC60 seems to be very impressive.

(one of the cars has amber leather - not sure if I'd like that).

Says Tax Band D, i don't know how much that is.

We've a 2010 2.0 dRIVE 2wd r design and recently put up 1600 miles around the UK and got 45mpg average. The rdesign looks the best but the suspension is very stiff, it has no roll in the corners which is surprising. Nearly sure ours is 154g/km.
