Would anyone know the cost of a strip foundation for 40q metres? We have been quoted 20k - that seems enormous!

It sounds a lot, is it 40 linear m or a 40sq m building, will it include digging , clay removal from site ,engineer inspection etc, what's access like to the site. Is it a high rise tower block ðŸ˜

Calahonda, 52 - it's for floor slab, insulation etc.

Bryan F, we have a price for whole extension, but within the betaken of the cots, the foundations came out at 20k! We thought this was a lot.

    20k for a 40sq m slab?
I spent 5-6k removing flat roof extension, digging founds, steel and concrete in ,stub walls, backfilling, dpc, radon yoke, 100mm insulation, 5" floor powerfloated, all wavins in etc on a 70sqm extension.
No rubble removed or skips though. Brother in law knocked extension and dug founds got tradesmen to do the rest.
That's serious money! Are u in Dubai or something?!! Could it possibly take much longer than 5 full days for two lads to do it, I doubt it

You need to be more clear. This cost is not just foundations, it’s sub floor build up and floor slab poured etc

Site clearance? Is access a problem?

Doesn't sound far off given area and work involved. Got quoted 13k for 30ish sq. M and 50mm of insulation 4 years ago.

Given building inflation has run at 20pc. A year its expensive but about right?

Thanks Bryan F and Lantus for your replies. Bryan F. - yes there are access problems as the house is terraced - no problem parking, but just everything has to go through the house.

No mention of house terraced and everything has to go through the house in your opening post - a minor detail!

Can you get a quote for a structural slab? Often less soil removal.

That depends on existing ground level.
