Crazy that the pay there is more than what a good ap earns in a technical job, eg revenue

18 HEOs reporting to 1 AP according to the booklet.

Is there many other APs in the Civil Service that would have 18 HEOs reporting to them?

Many people might say that dealing with “numbers” in Revenue would be a lot easier than dealing with suicide, mental illness, addiction etc... within the entire Civil Service.

Also if you look at the additional qualifications, the minimum is a degree in Psychology/a related discipline and three years recent work/volunteer experience providing counselling or similar. Realistically, you're gonna get actual clinical psychologists applying for this sort of role. Not an unreasonable pay scale, considering what they want.
