I have a Citroen Berlingo Van (diesel) - what kind of engine oil do I need for that?

    What colour is the van?

Or at least what year is it, which engine is in it and does it have a particle filter?

Pretty sure the smallest diesel in them is 1.6, Peugeot initially recommended a 5w40 oil for these, but changed to 5w30 afterwards. I reckon all Citroen diesels had the particle filter by 2008.

There are certain specs by Citroen the oil needs to meet, so once the oil meets that spec it shouldn’t matter. Citroen use Total oils from factory. I’ve often got it delivered from Micksgarage.

This is probably what you need.

And yes, engines with particle filters often need different oil to the minimum standard you’d put in a petrol.

Go to a motor factors with your reg number and they can check what oil goes into it.

Hey thanks very much for your answer....I didn't have a clue so I'm probably gonna take it to a cheap garage and get it done! When I'm confident I won't balls it up I'll check back and get the oil from Micksgarage. Sound!!

You need to get the right oil, don’t leave it to someone who could throw any ould ****e in. Those engines need the right oil and often.

Yea, like why would you want to have more money in your pocket? It's an oil change. It's not a very difficult job, go with the recommended oil and filter and everything else is fine.

In this forum only one thing is to be considered - changing the oil yourself.
Anything else, take yourself to the main forum..
