At my kids school a few parents seem to do every year with no qualms.

Personally, I would never even consider taking my kids out of school for a week to avail of a cheaper holiday.

So, have you ever done it, or would you do it without guilt?

Teacher here.Hard to blame parents in June where there can be hundreds in the difference. I'd prefer children to go in mid-June rather than earlier, as they can be very unsettled when they return and unsettle the rest of the class. And September is a huge no-no.

I haven't had the opportunity yet, but would do it without thinking twice guilt free.

We normally do a week in end Nov/ start Dec as that is when my busy period ends. Little guy starting school this year so not sure if we will keep it up. Gonna chat to his teacher and see what she thinks

It is a tiny minority who do seem to do it, I might add.
Otherwise the schools would be empty in early-mid June.

Not really. They could be doing it all year round.
