Marine engine overhaul

I have a BMW D7 inboard in my project boat.

As the boat is actually moving on towards being ready to sail, I'd like to get the engine overhauled.

Am I best to go to a marine specialist for this? Ideally when it is back, I'd like the prop shaft balanced and the stuffing box replaced with a PSS seal also.

Any / all advice is greatly appreciated.

Hi ezra if you want the engine overhauled I'd recommend someone like http://www.howardengineering.ie/engine-repairs if it's just a service you need any mechanic should be able to do that for you. For your shaft try http://mooneyboats.ie/yard-facilities/machining-turning/ sometimes it can be cheeper to just replace it. The stuffing box is something you can do yourself or your mechanic can do it when the shaft is being put back in. A good boat yard or marina should be able to look after all your needs and will know the best people close to you.
