Pretty sure micksgarage only sell new parts.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,917 ✭✭✭✭Toyotafanboi

Yeah, MicksGarage is new parts only. That's the entire mirror, the colour is grey primer so you'd have to get it painted to match your van.

    cheers guys

I'd be looking around the local scrapyards and on partfinder.ie for a mirror in the same colour as the original.
Even it it works out the same price (inc. delivery) as micks you are still better off.

Had a very bad experience with micksgarage recently. Wouldn't buy anything off them again.

Micks garage is all over priced. Plenty of cheaper places around. I hear people always going on to me that they can get this and that from micks garage for x amount and then I go check the price of the parts with my supplier and I’m like Jesus there’s some mark up on micks garage.

    Wouldn’t use them.

I think it has a lot to do with the broad spectrum.of stuff they sell too. Even if you put in an oil filter for a petrol Corolla there is eleventy million kinds, everything from literal ****e to high end brands and generally people who price online and proceed to quibble about in-store prices with anything, not just car parts will always price the cheapest possible online item, which is rarely what they will be getting in store. Usually because the bricks and mortar retailers need to try a bit harder to stand over their stuff. I wouldn't say it's a reason not to use MicksGarage but more to be aware of the particular item you are buying from them.

Compared to what a retail customer would pay at a motor factors, their stuff is usually well priced.

I had an issue with them lately aswell and they promised me a refund but I had to go to PayPal and PayPal found in my favour

Had an issue with them too - the rear lights for the Transit melted (KAST, which is just basically a generic brand for any cheap stuff they supply). They said they had identified a problem with the batch, blah blah and they would send us out different ones from another supplier.
Got the second set sent out and they were actually the same make (was stamoed on the back) and they melted too. Despite contacting them repeatedly got nowhere.

That said I’ve used them loads before and only ever had one other issue,

i never have any luck with scrap yards, they often say the item is perfect, then you get it and its cracked/damaged etc does anyone know if a 2017 peugeot partner mirror will fit a 2011 peugeot partner?

Yeah but micks garage is retail price. Im sure it's a trade price your supllier is giving you?

Never had problems with Mick's garage. Many times the price is better than local as they carry more range of the same part so there is choice.

    Sometimes they are not.

    Shop around.

Used to get all my service stuff from micks garage until I had an issue (don’t recall what it was about) but I do recall customer service was very poor. I now use euro car parts which tends to be cheaper (just be sure only buy when there is a discount code which is all the time).

Just checked the price of an air filter, oil filter and some oil (same brands on both websites) 74euro shipped with micks garage 61euro on euro car parts shipped

Would you not buy Irish and support local?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 579 ✭✭✭keyboard_cat

Nope not when the prices are higher and the customer service is rubbish. I will deal with one or the other (within reason) for the sake of buying Irish but not both

Talk about tarring a lot of factors with one brush.

Ya and that’s before trade discount.
As u can imagine I’m in the trade. I use euro car parts for everything but I buy in store and there dropped to me. The other motor factors have taken a serious hit since euro open hear.

I now use euro car parts

I ordered a 10" socket extension bar from ECP, and they sent me this monster of a yoke:

    drp011_act_under_fiesta.png

30L capacity, and costs €122. They didn't charge me for it.

I'm in the process of finding out how good their customer service is. 3 days, and it's going on Done Deal.

My most recent order with micksgarage:
    https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057891431

I rang their customer service and got on to some young lad who was of no use at all only to say "sorry about that".
I think I'll stick with http://www.smf.ie/ or http://www.mattreillyautoparts.ie/ who have been good for me in the past.

Got some parts last week and this week.

Some prices can be a bit higher compared to other sites and local factors.

Never had a bad experience myself.

By the time you drive, ring around the factors, wait for them to order the part or get it in from another store you'd have the stuff for Micksgarge.

Other sites I've used like misterauto is cheaper, but last time had car booked in, was told parts be with me in 2 days. Ended up being shipped from Belgium and took over a week. Car had to be booked in again with the mechanic.

Micksgarage i'll gladly pay and extra 3-5 euro on the part to have it next day,

Use mister auto for most of my parts now.
Usually cheaper and delivered straight to the door

I'm guessing because he wasn't invited to select a colour.

Its says in the description that it is primer and ready to paint. A 2nd part would be painted surely?

since people are bitching about Micks garage I will too.

Bought a yoke off them a while back, totally useless didnt work at all, they accepted it back, no issue but I had to pay a 5er to post it back to them.

    I don't think that's fair at all.

No postage when you use a bricks and mortar lads!

Yes yes yes, I get it FFS. I did read the third post ...
Yeah, MicksGarage is new parts only. That's the entire mirror, the colour is grey primer so you'd have to get it painted to match your van.

I was explaining to another poster that the OP probably thought it was a secondhand part BECAUSE he wasn't asked to nominate a colour.

Wouldn’t bother using them again myself, guess it’s alright if you aren’t near a motor factor

    I have a vested interest! ;)

I bought pads from Micks Garage, they sent me the wrong ones, I still had to pay return postage even though it was their mistake, I won't be using them again, not worth the gamble when you risk wasting a day of your weekend and the cost of postage.

Seems to be their policy - costing their customers for micksgarage mistakes

I have used Micks garage a few times and have been satisfied with them.

My only gripe is that they no longer allow you to collect stuff from their premises to avoid the delivery charge (I used to work close by).

Been using micks garage for a while, one thing I have found is they dont seem to have a clue what to do or say to a customer when they send out the wrong parts, the lad there was trying to tell me it was right even when I had shown him the original part.
Cant see them lasting if they cant sort out their mistakes and admit they made a mistake, very poor customer service and Ill be using the motor factors from now on.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,893 ✭✭✭rex-x

If it is their error they are required to cover return postage, they need to be pushed though.

I've bought wiper blades from them for a few years now, must be on my third pair at least, never had an issue with ordering and delivery. Can anyone who's done a comparison with their local motor factor say if MG is cheaper for your average retail customer for wiper blades?
