When can a garda of the same sex as a suspect carry out a strip search on a suspect who is suspected of drug possession?

In the last 6 days youve started threads about the garda and their powers and your rights (as it were)
If you're interested in these things maybe email your local station and say you're doing a report and would like some answers or can you call in,most are sound and will be happy someone is Interested in their job. I did it before a few years back

The Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 (s.23) and the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 (s.30)

Gardai have powers to strip search under these acts based on reasonable suspicion. The search can only be done in private and by a member of the same sex in a non degrading way.

If you are going to keep asking questions about guards you can familiarise your self with the statute website, it's quite helpful and easy enough to navigate
