Anybody got any advice on getting insurance to cover loss of a watch? I have an Omega I want to ensure.

House insurance seems expensive if putting it in under an all risks specified item....?

    Cheers

How much extra did the house insurance want?

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

Thanks for mentioning that. I've renewal coming up, should check with my insurer how much it is to add the Seamaster. Only current item we have specified is my wife's engagement ring.

I can personally recommend thmarch.ie for insuring a watch. No relation or connection to them, so not shilling etc. For example I insure my 12.6K Submariner piece with them for 200 per annum; which I consider reasonable.

    What level of cover?

They cover single items (of jewelry/watches) up to 15K value.
Or collections (of jewelry/watches) up to 30K value.
As my collection is under 30K I just went for the single cover for my best piece.
Its straight theft cover, as the manufacturer's warranty covers defects for 4 years anyway.
I would advise anyone with high value pieces to invest in a small safe at home, even better if one can hide it somewhere.
It never ceases to amaze me how many collectors leave all their pieces on display in a watchbox in their bedroom or living room.
Yes it's lovely to view ones pieces, but asking for theft if burgled.

Thanks for the link, I'd been looking to get some insurance for watches. I wonder how Brexit will affect their ability to cover, given that TH March are based in the UK?

"TH March Insurance Broker is authorised to conduct insurance mediation business in the Republic of Ireland under EU “Passporting” Regulations."

So would the insure a collection of watches and say an engagement ring too?

Yes, one can insure a mixed collection of watches and jewelry. Or insure them separately either; one watch and one engagement ring policy; for example.
Best to enquire for a quote, as the premium really depends on the value of your piece(s). I thought 200 Euro per annum for a 12.6K piece was reasonable; as this was less than the surcharge on my household contents insurance had I added it.
But if anyone else can recommend a better value Irish based insurer; please feel free. Like In said, no connection or shilling; I would happily switch to a competitor if they offered a cheaper premium.
