Seems freedom he will not have.
    Bloody fool.

It reminds me of the people who were out trying to destroy the speed camera vans. IIRC one was set on fire while the operator was in it and since then they've been fitted with monitoring cameras.

It's not too difficult to stick to the speed limit that you need to try to kill.

Eeven if it had broke it people would have stilled paid it thinking the cameras were working so really he did nothing. Now if he had broken a speed camera on the m50...

If only there were some speed cameras on the M50....

People with tags got free journeys and then there are those who simply forget and get the reminder letter normally and then there were those who knew it was broke (it was all over the news) and didn't pay.

You think he did nothing? Lost revenue aside, there was around €100,000 damage to equipment.

Wasnt saying there wasn't a loss to equipment. Just foolish in my opinion and loosing 2.5 years of your life to rot in prison. Instead should give him a sentence of collecting the tolls on the eastlink or the m1 as penance with no pay To be honest the poor garda who had to go up there after him I wouldn't have liked to be in her shoes

The problem is he already had a "history" and a previous record does have an affect on any penalty. He has been before the courts before in relation to the "lock the government out of the Dáil" protest, the water protests, property tax protests, obstruction and contempt...

It also probably didn't help coming before Judge Nolan - remember Paul Begley (aka "Garlic Man"), same judge!

In any case I think someone who causes a half a million Euro loss to the state deserves 2.5 years.

    Seriously?

BTW, Judge Nolan is a Circuit Court judge and you can't hold trials for those two offences in the Circuit Court.

Neither of those relate to the point in your original post to which I replied (which for those not in the know was deleted by a MOD).

    Anyway back on topic...

He'll probably only serve like what, 9 months? Definitely well earned that. Though maybe he'd be better off in the CMH permanently.

Probably could have stabbed someone on the side of the road on the M50 and received not much longer of a sentence.

There are in the port tunnel, but likely not at West Link.
