Hi Lads, I’m looking for someone in the Dublin area that would do a pre purchase inspection of a E46 M3 for me. I’d be looking for someone with specific experience of these cars rather than a general mechanic.
Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated.
The car in particular is the one linked.

    Thanks,
    John

Valdas in Motor Confidence is the only person around Dublin who I'd let near it. He know these cars (and pretty much every other BMW!).

Best of luck with it - a sorted E46 M3, is a brilliantly fun car.

Carinspectionsireland.ie are very trustworthy.... that’s an unusual m3 in that it only had 1 Irish owner since imported in 2007.....

Thats very expensive for a silver car with over 100k on it. I would expect it to be nothing less than immaculate with a comprehensive service history including rear floor reinforcement, head gasket & bottom end bearings.

I've inspected a few of these in the past West of the Shannon... I'll be conscious of the wear on the drivers seat, the steering wheel and the gear knob.... 110,000 miles?? If that car had actually done only 7,000miles a year and has a full documented service history with receipts, I would expect it to cost more.

Condition of the seats and gear lever is consistent with the mileage, these wear out fairly quickly compared to other makes.

As others have noted, for the price it would want to have had the subframe done, the head gasket done, the VANOS and anti rattle kit done. I've been in one and they are really beautiful cars - when they're in good working order, but they have the potential to throw up very expensive repair bills if you're not careful.

The fact it's a manual is a bonus, it's a much more reliable box than the SMG.
