Tax Credits

    Hi,

I'm just wondering if somebody can help me with understanding my tax credits.

My last job ended in early 2015.

I recently started working so requested my tax cert.

It shows my yearly tax credit as 1370, weekly is 26.

Does this seem to be correct. I thought it should be higher?

I was also on a sickness payment while I was not working if this matters.

    Thanks.

Revenue will reduce your tax credits if there was underpaid tax in previous years. Did you apply for a P21 recently. Illness payments are subject to income tax.

Normally a single person would get €1,650 tax credit, plus €1,650 for being a PAYE employee.

Well my last p21 was issued in 2015. I just checked. Nothing owed!

    My payment was invalidity benefit.

When I filled in the new job form using revenue “my account” it asked me if my salary will be less then 15k for rest of he year, I selected no. It asked it less then 60k to which I selected yes.

Is that the same as Disability Allowance, which isn't taxable.

Best to contact Revenue and ask them why it's not €3,300 per annum.

Just thought of something, have you given some tax credit to your partner? It wouldn't fully explain jut €26 per week though.

No, didn’t do that. I’ll just call them and see what’s going on Tuesday.

    Thanks for the help.
