I’m currently trying to loss a few pounds, and am trying to stick to a low calorie diet as I find that’s all that works for me.. I’m pescatarian and because I feel I need to be so restrictive with what I eat in order to loss weight I’m finding it really hard to find a variation in my dies, I love food and when I find something I like and that works for me I stick with it, which means over time I get sick of it, like some of my main foods would have being oats, tuna and eggs and I’m completely gone of them.. I also find larger portions of bulky vegetable meals just result in me maintaining.. I’m ok with breakfast but when it comes to lunch or dinner I find it so hard to find something that works. At the moment I usually have salmon and something like grilled tomatos and peas or broccoli for dinner as I want to get some kinda protein in my diet but need variation, if anyone has advice or recommendations please share!

I was looking for new things to eat earlier in the year and stumbled on Barley, it's a healthier substitute for oats and is a good substitute for rice, it has a risotto quality to it but much lower GI, only downside is a longer cooking time (about 45min). A couple of times a week I normally make a prawn curry Thai/Indian with rice cauliflower and some greens.

I'm pescatarian too but haven't gone off tuna and eggs yet (though I don't find eggs agree with me as much).

I make a lot of variations of Indian curries using a load of chickpeas, canellini beans, black beans, lentils etc. BBC Good Food website has a lot of easy enough quick recipes.

Cod and Hake are great. Low in saturated fat but high protein. Dicky them up with salt and pepper, parsley and lemon juice.

I do Chilli & Bolognese/Lasagne sauce using the Quorn Mince & blackbeans. I find you need a ton of seasoning/flavouring to make up for the lack of actual mince, but still nice and you can chop/grate a ton of veg into the sauces.

I noticed your other post on the Fitness forum re the bootcamps. 100% you will lose fat faster if you exercise and build up some muscle (along with a really good diet). See if there are bootcamps going on near you a few times a week or maybe HIIT/circuit classes/boxercise. 3 times a week minimum. You can fit this all in around your kids etc.

Consistency will be key and you might not see any real results for a good month or two, but it will happen. Slow and steady wins the race.

Try freekeh for your grain. It is a bit pricey, but a little goes a long way.

Lentils are very versatile too and go well with fish.

    Hey,

I wrote a blog post recently that lists a few recipes that are all healthy, low calorie, easy to make and vegan. The main body of the post won't be relevant to you (unless you are a fussy eater) so you can just skip to the bottom for the links.

Here it is, I hope it helps - these are my go-to quick, and healthy food prep meals.
