    I could be wrong but AFAIK there is no wire in the sidewalls.

    They do have wire in the side walls;

    Do Tyre Walls contain wires?

    This is a question that we are often asked. Yes tyre walls do contain wires. The wires are cut at right angles so that they run straight back and are firmly anchored into the rubber tyre wall.

    Kinda answered ny initial question there, I think.

    I was asking did anyone use these on the silage thread last night.

    I see a crowd in Antrim do them.
    Fed up with the bulky water filled tyres.

    I saw a few years where a farmer only puts one sheet of plastic on the pit and covers it with plenty dung. When feeding out he uses a sheer grab and cuts through the dung and plastic when taking the top layer he then opens the grab scrapes the dung off into the dung heap and puts the plastic in the recycling bin. Very neat job no plastic falling down over the feed face or blowing in the wind.

    Those side walls look a bit light for the job especially if you get a windy day after opening the pit.
