I've a 151 elite model from new and the only issue I had was a clicky clutch pedal which was covered under warranty, now there's 89k km up and avg mpg over that distance according to obd is 58mpg. Its the 163bhp 2.0L engine.
It's up for sale now as I'm looking to upgrade to a 520d.
Most of the reliability issues were sorted on the 142 facelift so definitely aim for this model.

I owned a 2009 163 bhp cannot remember the model but had half leather, climate control etc...in 2010-11

    Hated it.
Got nowhere near the claimed mpg, i averaged about 42, 43.
Awful in corners, no feel and it liked to wobble about.
The 163 bhp felt nearer 120 or 130 in comparison with previous VAG and BMW after.
Did not set the world alight.

That said a great car for up and down the motorway and had decent amount of space in it.
I have not driven a newer model but don't appear to have changed much.

Put about 40k miles on it and got rid.
From 40 to 80k or there abouts.
Only reliablity issue was rear passanger window dropped which i fixed myself

As above, the facelift model is far better than the earlier examples. 2015 models are a very good value car at the moment.
