Pay scales in the Public Service

Hi, can anyond provide me with advice on pay scales in public service?

I'm currently on point 2 scale as per level of appointment of an SEA. Was previously on point 1 but received first increment some months back. Starting new job but on same level of appointment and wanted to be moved to point 3. This is worth a €600 increase which after tax will be quite paltry but it means next year's increment will be worth 2k. I've submitted request but been told it's considered a lateral move and not a promotion and as such I will have to remain on point 2. As such I'm effectively on a pay freeze for 2 years unless I apply and get another job on higher level of appointment. Is it worth arguing my case here/ trying to get some concessions or should I forget about it?

Added to this contract is less than a year in duration. Starting to become disincentivised working in PS.

Best you can do is ask for your increment date to remain the same as it is now . There shouldn't be an issue with it

Hey, do you mean the increment date from current role I.E effective start date of current contract, carried over to the new role?

Exactly. I know of a couple of people who got that , including myself but this was pre Haddington so it may be different . No harm in asking
