Can't tell you but if you look at the figures for individual bulls it should indicate whether they are long or short for their breed.

I've used Ulsan and Highfield Odran and nether have gone over 285 days.
Charolais bulls here range from 284 to 296 but Lim is the worst usually often going over 294+ days

Bulled 2 cows last august on the same day. 1st to castle view gringo gwo (lm) went 290 days. 2nd to fiston (ch) and she went 4 days longer. Use bulls with plenty calves on the ground and there gestation figures should be fairly accurate. You'll pick your short gestation bulls from there regardless of breed

    Values from latest ICBF data;

    Angus - 0.65
    Belgian Blue - 0.82
    Saler - 0.97
    Herdford - 1.61
    Parthanaise - 1.89
    Simmental - 2.49
    Char - 2.7
    Limousin - 3.82
    Blonde - 3.94

All above values are days, so for example Limousin are longer than BB by (3.82-0.82) 3 days.

A couple of years ago i synched and ai'd 5 heifers on the one day. all were out of my own stock bull so they had the same father and all ai'd to the sh bull bressie. 4 held 1 repeated, the first one calved early and the one that repeated calved before 2 of the others. now i thought with the same father and the same bull used on them they would be fairly tight but it was spread out over a month and before anyone thinks it was a weanling or something, they were definitaly sh calves and i had no sh bull running around.

Only one sample size but I've a limo cow bulled to same bull 4 years. Heifer calves come in at 298 days and bull calves at 290, two each. Thought it should be other way round.

I have an ION limosin cow here on her 8th calf and apart from the first year she always calves between 294 and 296 days. She’s had LGL twice, GWO once, FSZ twice and AHC twice. So charlaois, limosin and simmental all the same with her. Mix of bulls and heifers.

Sorry for digging this up.. saw similar discussion on my question recently in another thread but can't find now!!

Anyway.. can't find gestation on icbf anymore. It used to have a 'days' figure previously e.g.. 290 days.

Reason being have 2 cows due to ch4159 and ch 4160 in next week. Have a lim stock bull that's normally 296 days average but wondering dies anyone know what these charlois will have... cows are 75% limo...

On computers/labtops - the 'Gestation' tab is under 'Replacement index'.

Progressive genetics have a calving calculator on their website. Awful handy

Salers and angus have shorter gestation. I am not a fan of salers. Docility adg confirmation. Good if have saler cows and cross a charolais on them
