Broadband Connection Dropping

I'm with VM on their 240mb package. With a wired connection I am only getting max 60mbps wired. My hub is downstairs and I am using homeplugs to run the connection upstairs.

My connection was dropping before over wifi and I thought it would be stable wired so that's why I got the homeplugs. My connection drops about 4-5 times a day through the wired connection and I've noticed that my wifi on my phone is dropping too.

I updated all of my drivers on the network card but it was still happening. Called VM who went through some troubleshooting. Eventually they sent an engineer out and he inspected the connection and said that everything was fine. The connection is still dropping.

I downloaded software today to proof that it's not just me making it up. Is there anything I am overlooking here?

    Two things:

    A) Homeplugs are wired but only barely - for example a real ethernet is talk and listen at the same time, homeplugs are like walkie talkies and wifi, one at a time. 60Mb isnt abnormally slow. 150Mb on them is doing really really well.

    B) You have a Hub 3.0 yeah? Its a design flaw where if enough packets are sent on your street it crashes and reboots. VM always cheap out on user kit which sucks as the rest of the service is wonderful. You can run a BQM from ThinkBB to demonstrate crashing.

Thanks Ed E. I'll setup a BQM. Would you advise to change the router? I have a hub 3.0.

If you can convince them to give you something older it'd likely be a lot better but with inferior wifi.

I wouldn't mind about the wifi. I think I have the old router still. Wonder will they provision it for me.

If you get the right agent they usually should.

I'll have to have a look for the hub first. They're monitoring the connection over the next 3 days to see if there is anything they can do. They said they might replace the hub.

That's what I thought. Perhaps it's the network card in my PC.
