    What bank are you?
I'm just wondering as I'm considering changing banks.

Why won't they accept your funds? You have to use the same account and details you signed up with.

    Chauffe, Marcel, chauffe!

And even if you change banks, the process of changing over to your new bank isn't that hard. What seems to be the problem, themossinator?

Sorry to hijack this thread, I opened an account with Degiro, I cannot login to the app on my phone, but can on my laptop, I get a message on the phone saying to ring them, I rang the number 3 times and wait 'in-line' for a response, but when it gets to my turn, I am told they can't accept my call. Their number is 01 513 4951.

It doesn't help build my trust in them, anyone else had issues? I've used firstrade and still do for my US trades, but wanted to open an account in Europe as well, any alternatives if I can't reach them, I will obviously not be using them if I can't invest or check stocks using my phone.

Are you using the DeGiro app or the web site on your phone?

Do you get an error message? Have you tried another phone?

I'm using the app on iOS (iPod touch).

If you have $100k to invest or if you are going to be an active trader then Interactive Brokers are probably going to be your best bet (https://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?f=1590&p=stocks1).
Firstrade (for US stocks) do not charge any commission on trades but I'm pretty sure somebody here found that they are no longer taking Irish clients.

@ cute hoor, thanks for that, do you have any experience with Degiro?. Im still doing a lot of research and doing paper trading at the moment, but still unsure regarding who the best broker to open an account with.

Just a little bit of experience with them, only ever bought Vanguard funds (commission free), so haven't traded with them for a few months. Never had an issue with them, no problem opening account, funding, buying, receiving dividends, withdrawing money, website reasonably friendly, so I wouldn't have anything bad to say about them.

Overall IB are probably cheaper than them but not a whole lot in it.
