    Hello,

I was told recently I was being laid off while we get the go ahead on a bigger job in work. So it looks like it will be 6 or 8 weeks. Does any one know what happens here in terms of state assistance?

On from that, its started to get me thinking on my next steps. I'v been thinking if it would be a good time to look for another job, or start up my own business. But I'm wondering if I was to let them know after the 8 weeks that I was leaving, I wouldn't be eligible for redundancy? I have read that there are some supports for starting up a business from being laid off/redundant, however would those supports be there if I had to leave because I wasnt sure if there was still a job for me?

Sorry if it sounds like I'm trying to find a way to get money, but this hasn't happened to me before and Its a bit worrying on what way to go.

    Any help appreciated...

After 4 weeks of being laid off/short time you can kind of demand your employer make you redundant but the employer can counter that he/she can within 4 weeks offer you 13 weeks work at least.
All this is done via a form rp9:
