Steel exhaust tip cleaning

I got a new to me mazda 6 sport with twin exhaust tips which Im sure looked good at some stage! Both are fully blackened now with just a few small spots of steel visible. Whats the best stuff to clean these? They are brushed steel as far as I know. I sprayed a bit of fallout remover on them when doing the alloys and there was a fair bit of purple reaction which seems to have thinned the black covering them but very much still covered!!

Autosol metal polish and some steel wool should do what you want.

This worked a treat and with minimal effort.

step 1: extra fine steel wool and autosol
    step 2: microfibre and autosol.
step 3: Dremel with metal polishing wheel and autosol.

Result is perfect shine which I coated with a tiny bit of left over gtechniq exov3 which is good up to 300 degress C apparently.

I also find autosol very good. There are only a few small bits that I can't get off the exhaust. I was just wondering which kind of steel wool and brand would ye recommend if there are only a few bits on the exhaust. Thank you.

Yes chrome autosol works on too iirc. As for wire wool I just bought it from Halfords and it did the job perfectly.
