Hi all, looking for some info if anybody can help.
I'm interested in getting a rottweiler pup and possibly getting involved in schutzhund. I think for this reason the dog should come from working lines. (Open to correction on this !)

I've admired this breed for years, and am now in a position to finally get one of my own (kids grown, more time etc).

Dont want to go down the gumtree/donedeal route as you never really know what you're getting or conditions they were bred in.

If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be very much appreciated.

The "kids" are only dying for it too.

    Thanks in advance

I will give my 2 cents but more experienced are bound to give better info. Regarding schutzhund give any of the GSA Ireland clubs a call , some members do work there rottweilers there aswell, with getting a puppy you might find it hard getting a working line rotty here but reputable breeders who show there dogs may use sires who would have working titles etc , I know lucian( von bel mondo ) , his pups are top quality and his linage could have parents who are titled. He will point you to a more drivey pup who could be more suited to working. But also be prepared to wait for one of his pups. Have you looked at working trials? The techniques used in some schutzhund clubs can be some what negative , I have a German shepherd and I didn't agree with there training methods , just something to look at for yourself.

Thanks for the reply dubs1990, I saw the GSA site alright but assumed it was just for German Shepherds. I'll contact them tomorrow .
The working trials never crossed my mind, it might actually be more fun for ourselves and the dog.

    Thanks again

Just a quick note that working trials and schutzhund take up alot of time with the different areas that are involved in the sport , I ended up doing obedience with my guy and he absolutely loves it. Certainly something that could be steered more towards the kids getting involved etc, give the ikc a shout they run it out in Cloghran every Tuesday as far as I can remember if your Dublin based.
