Why does the father have no rights?

The major argument of the Yes side is that its the womens body and she should get to choose and while that's true, why is the automatic position the father has no rights to the unborn child? He played a part in making it. He may be willing to take on 100% of the responsibilities to the resultant child. He could possibly make a better potential single father than the potential single mother. SO why is it the YES sides stance the father has no say in it. Why is his rights superseded? Why are his wishes counted as naught?

I think to be fair, the woman does a fair wee bit more work over the 9 month period.

Probably because he's not the one carrying the foetus around in his body - pretty obvious I would have thought.

Nine months of incubation and a lifetime of the after-effects.

Mod: There's a thread on the 8th already in AH, but is currently closed for reviw. That said, there's already a discussion on this exact viewpoint over in The Gentlemen's Club here.
