Stormy Daniels and Michael Avenatti - Publicity stunt?

I'm seeing this lawyer on almost every US news network going almost every single day giving interviews left right and center. Apparently he has been on CNN alone no less than 65 times in the last couple of months.

Don't get me wrong - he is a great talker and is able to handle himself but increasingly i'm doubting the motives around this whole thing.

Meanwhile her income and profile has increased massively and much speculation about Avenatti and a political career. She is currently raking it in on a "Make America Horny Again" tour.

    Fair enough, not begrudging.

Seems to be being picked up by the media finally.

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/may/12/stormy-daniels-donald-trump-seeking-attention-political-crusade-

We all know Trump is an idiot but as much as I hate him I think he may have a point about this one.

There is something about these two that I don't think is at all genuine.

Maybe just me. I believe the stories but don't think the motives match what they claim they want - which is an end to a non disclosure agreement with Trump.

You're doubting the motives now? What exactly did you think the motive ever was?

At 443am that is stunning theory.

    Spectacular analysis OP.

Thanks to Avenatti, whatever his motives, he's keeping Trump/Cohen and their dodgy dealings front and center.

The scandal de jour is the inaugural committee funds. The committee had raised approx. 54m for Obama's inauguration, the largest ever at that time. Trump's inauguration committee somehow raised over 100m! That's a lot of money for an inauguration that was not even half the size and had no notable stars/performers attending. How did an inauguration half the size cost twice as much? 24m of that was paid to a company owned by Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, friend and Senior Advisor to Melania Trump.

    Drain the swamp indeed...

    Ouch!

As if Stormy wasn't stormy enough up to now, she'll be like a hurricane now...

Clearly she's touched more than a nerve with this escapade. I'd say Avenatti is furious with her for falling into the trap that the cops obviously set out for her. She's Bang to Rights I'd say, regardless of the fact that the cops stung her. Payback's a bitch, and when you take on Don the Con, don't be surprised if the hit is made when you least expect it!!

Maybe Kasich (State Governor) will limit her pain with a word in the Prosecution's ear!

The most high profile accuser of Trump is a porn star ... what the hell did people expect?

I actually think that on the scheme of things, and having watched the BBC documentary, Trump was a bit of a creep, but hardly a marauding rapist he was made out to be.

That woman from his apprentice show Summer Zervos went to a private room with him, alone, to "discuss her career" and then gives a testimony with the most insincere I've ever seen complete with fake crying - my 5 year old daughter is more convincing - about how she was traumatised when he tried to kiss her and touch her breast. If I was on a jury there is no way I'd believe her testimony. Literally no evidence whatsoever of anything.

To be honest if any interviewer actually started talking about "never been in love" etc I'd be out of there. It proves she is not a businesswoman in any shape or form.

There were a few more convincing accounts but they dated from the 70s and were more about him being "handsy" than full on Weinstein, and vague accusations about underage girls from stereotypical Democrat types.

Compared to other US presidents like Clinton and Kennedy, he seems to be fairly low on the scale.

Eh, he was joking about how he might just start kissing the woman who was about to interview him and the guys laughed, he then said when you're a star they "let" you do anything, and this got another laugh, and so one of the guys quipped 'Whatever you want' and Trump said "Grab them by the pussy".

It was a joke ffs and to suggest that those comments make him a "self confessed molester of women" is preposterous.

He’s a serial aduterer and multiple divorcee (and a patholical liar), but yet the people who said that gay marriage was the end of civilization have completely embraced him.
He has the support of some real fring loons, also.

    Trump

    Allegedly.

His then lawyer/fixer Michael Cohen threatened on tape a Daily Beast reporter not to print anything about it.

Michael also said that the marital defence to rape applied.. (which it didn't of course in that State at that time)

Trump: Yeah, that’s her. With the gold. I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.

Oh yeah, that's hilarious, and totally not a known bragger bragging.

I never said it was funny, let alone hilarious.

The point is that he was saying it for effect in response to another one of the men saying "Whatever you want". It was a joke of exaggeration and whether you did or did not find it funny is neither here nor there.

Does it make him a braggart? Sure.
Did it make him sound like a knob? Absolutely?
Does it mean he's a ""self confessed molester of women"? Nope.

Indeed, and those are multivitamins in Bill Cosby's pocket.

Did they realise they were being recorded at the time. I'm sure we've all made off colour jokes 13 years ago they we wouldn't like to see resurface in public.

He is a braggart, he has the New York attitude and sense of humour.

Listen back to some of his interviews on Howard Stern, he's actually quite funny at times.

I understand that this brand of humour is not suited to the sensitive, prude or ultra conservative types. Believe me I can see how it comes across, I just don't think it's all genuine sentiment.

Real NY/NJ can be complete alien culture to outsiders.

I am glad to say that I don't associate with absolute pricks so it's pretty rare to hear nasty crap like this. I'm pretty confident that the vast majority of men and women don't boast about grabbing people by the genitals without consent.

In terms of Trump sounding like an ordinary Joe, he really doesn't. It's a very bad sign when the president of the US sounds less informed about world affairs than the average member of the public. His time in office has proven that he is ill suited to the role that he holds.

I've got no particular reason to have a problem with her. Secondly, I haven't defended her. I would tend to think she ranks better than Trump as she recognises consent which Trump doesn't tend to. Eg grabbing women by vaginas which is apparently the sort of things that you and your friends say in the pub..

I dunno, I think what people say privately shouldn't be taken literally.

Would you describe the people and behavior of hen parties all around Ireland every weekend as "filth"?

Had Trump said something like 'When you're rich you can grab women, feel them up and they can't do anything about it' you'd understand some of the vitriol that has been directed at him since this clip was released but he said nothing of the sort ot anything close to it even. He was clearly taking the piss out of what some women let rich men do, and which they wouldn't perhaps let an ordinary (broke) guy do. The 'Grab em by the pussy' comment was just said for comedic effect in response to the 'Whatever you want?' reply from whoever the hell else was on that bus. They were messing, laughing. He wasn't holding a seminar on how to treat women ffs.

Anyway, charges dropped and so the 'Trump set her up' conspiracies that had begun can at least now stop.
