They will all start having them over the next few weeks in time for the reg change in July. Keep an eye on the manufacturers websites and tv/radio commercials.

Cheers. Damn Nct is up beginning of June. Could test it and buy 28 days!

I think a lot of those scrappage schemes include a condition that the car must have a valid NCT.

I wonder if they bother with that when the money is on the table.

Are most scrappage schemes aimed at pcp / dealer finance or can you fund them with your own finance?

Ya and apparently the road tax has to be up to date too.

It's the manufacturer that is offering the scrappage deal (or discount) on the new car. The valid NCT, tax criteria is so that the dealer can sell the car on through the trade and make some money on it. Some of the deals will give you the choice of either availing of the scrappage discount or instead a low rate PCP deal with a dealer contribution towards the deposit.

Oh didn't know that. I knew it wasn't a government scheme, but would have thought they would scrap it given the name of the scheme. Bit misleading.

Well think about it. A car with a low market value due to its age and/or condition doesn't suddenly become worth €4k when you trade it in against a new car.

Fiat have scrappage deals on now with up to 2,500 off some cars and they have also reduced the price of the Tipo diesel so it is the same price as the petrol version.

It may depend on the dealer, so head into one of showrooms if you are seriously interested. I was offered a 3k scrappage on my almost 20 year old on the Ioniq EV !!

And when did they say they’d have an ioniq?

Also. I heard there’s a major update coming for the battery on those. As it stands you can’t get them.

Yeah, the Fiat one is an actual scrappage deal where you need to have the car scrapped by an ELV facility and to my knowledge you can scrap any ould yoke.

That said the deals are only up to €2000 off, so for example a Punto, which is a 13 year old model now you only get €1400 off, where you’d want to be getting a lot more than that off given that they’re such a hard sell.
Now to be fair they start at €13750 so they’re not that dear to start with, but you’d nearly expect to make the journal.ie or something if you actually bought one.

Some head the ball near me has a 181 plate Punto.

I could handle a Tipo if I never had to sell it

The dealer had a white one at the time which I could have had in 2 weeks(once SEAI grant had been processed). He just said a couple of months if I wanted any other colour!
I test drove the Leaf the same day and decided to go with one of them instead - although there was no scrappage available but you can negotiate a little on the price

Fiat after a brief glimmer of hope seem to have slipped yet again. Their sales are down again I think. The 500x should be exactly what the buyers want but it was overpriced to start and the styling not great either.
Look at Peugeot and what they have done with excellent and stylish product.
As for Alfa, the much hyped Giulia is selling virtually nothing here in Ireland.

Just got rid of my 500. I will never by another Fiat. A certain Northside dealership was completely useless, Fiat themselves - useless, car while fun when it worked developed a fault which the internal diagnostics were, you guessed it, useless.
