What is this?

    Can anyone tell me what this is? I presumed it was some type of relay etc.. that is associated with our house alarm. It makes a humming noise currently which is getting annoying :)

    That looks like an internal alarm sounder. Should make lots of noise when the alarm is activated.

    Thanks, it has a constant low level hum from it at the moment... assuming it might be faulty

    Yeah could possibly be faulty. Do a bell test on your system to check it.

    It's a 'Sound Bomb', internal sounder.

    Sometimes a 2k2 resistor across the bell + & - can get rid of that hum.
    What panel is it connected to & what type external bell do you have?
