How long to replace the speed sensor on the gearbox?

    Have to replace the speed sensor on the gearbox of my 99 astra ( 1.4 16v if that makes any differance ) so wondering roughly how long would it take to replace,ive been told anything from 1hour up to 4 plus hours :eek: cheers...

    Dont know about astra but did a 2000 clio in 2 minutes myself its just plugged into gearbox and wiring to be disconnected and the reverse done to fit dont see it taking 4 hours

    Just seen video on YouTube and its on the wheel bearing which will be a bigger job so 1 to 2 hours tops

    Mine is definatly on the gearbox,some non ABS like mine being non ABS too have it on the NSF hub,a mate said something like some metal rod from the gearbox crosses over the sensor so you have to disconnect the rod etc thing to gain access to the sensor......

    This defo doesn’t sound right at all. I think u or your mate might be wrong it’s either at the abs sensor or it’s a cable which goes into the box. If it’s is the second one it’s not a sensor it’s a cable that’s needed. Now I’m open to correction I work on bmws but on any nixers I’ve done it was one setup or the other.

    Dropped the car into a mechanic today and he said he,ll get it done over the weekend,i asked where abouts the speed sensor is located as there seems to be conflicting opinions as to its location and he showed me it on the gearbox.Also phoned a main Opel dealer and they asked me for the reg etc and they said the same :)
