Hi could anyone tell me if the Irish public service card photo id one can be used as a valid ID on the ferry to Wales?
A few of us are going on a stag this weekend and two of the group don't have a passport or drivers license.

You will need some form of photo ID, anything with your name should do, bus pass even. PSC card has your name, photo and is issued by the Irish state so will be accepted

The police in Holyhead and Fishguard do check regularly when departing to Ireland

Just from a very practical point of view you may need something with your age on it to get a beer

Are you implying that it's illegal to offer it as a form of ID?

Considering that Aer Lingus will accept virtually anything with your photo on it (including a bus pass or employee ID card) when flying between Ireland and the UK, I'd say the PSC card will do just fine for the ferry and that's if you are asked for ID which as Fred says is unlikely.

I've been over and back on the ferry to Holyhead five times or so in the past 10 years and never been asked for ID at either end of the journey. In a car, you'd get stopped the odd time by the HMRC lads but they're looking for contraband and don't care about ID as long as the car is clean of illegal substances.

They dont check regularly...I have taken the ferry both ways multiple times and have never been asked for any id at all. I am sure its a possibility...but a rare one.

    Thank you guys.
The new picture PSC is State issued so I do think that should be ok as proof of ID.
