I'm on the 07:10 out and the 23:25 home. Should be fun trying to get back to the airport after the match!

Wicklow Arms is 150m from the bus stop where the airport bus (A3247) will leave you and is really close to the stadium too. There's loads of bars around that square anyway.

I’m on the same flights as you, I agree going to be great fun getting back to the airport. Last bus back the airport from the bus terminal seems to be 22:00, so at least the temptation so later isn’t there... hopefully.

I'm sure I read a post with someone saying the bars in the ground will close 15 minutes before kick off. Can't find the post though. Anyone any details on it?

You travelling alone or in a group? Could always jump in a cab and split it!

I'm on my lonesome, but meeting up with people either in town somewhere or in the Stadium. No plans set in stone yet.

I saw that too... Possibly on the Leinster thread. Close 15 mins before KO and don't reopen until 15mins afterwards. Apparently they don't normally serve beer in the ground at all normally.

    That's dreadful if true

Travelling with the bro in law, yeah nothing set in stone as yet.

Yeah can spilt a cab no bother, it’s a short journey into the city centre.

Tim Robbins will be happy if he's going.

Also on the 23 35 flight home. Reckon a cab share might be a good shout

I doubt it. Everyone will be pouring them down before kick off and spend the match going to the jacks. :D

Yeah, that only works if its a surprise the bars close, if people know in advance it will be carnage.

I think they will learn all about stampedes :D

I saw a tweet last that bars in Bilbao had almost doubled their orders for the weekend to cope with demand: 130,000 litres of beer.

One of the first replies was that that amount equated to about 4 pints per person attending the final.

Bag of cans from the local Mercadona and sit in a park anyone? There's one in sight of the stadium!!! 85 Urkixo Zumarkalea if you want to look on streetview!

Stadium is completely dry, apparently, just saw a tweet from someone at the Challenge Cup final and a quick Google confirms that the local authorities banned the sale of alcohol in all sporting venues in 2016.

I knew I should have bought one of those "wine rack" bras.

Doesn't look like it. Alcohol-free beer is it, apparently.

Anyone in T2 for the 7:10 Aer Lingus flight? Currently at the Slaney bar, charging my phone and having a pint!

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,040 ✭✭✭A-Train

Well this is only a sh*t show here this morning in the airport! Flight due to take off at 7:10 but Aer Lingus have over sold the flight by 6 people and still in the terminal until people volunteer to go on the later flight.

Well that sounds like a load of bollox. The 5:55 just landed and seems to be 6 short

Just on the plane now, hopefully get off the ground in the next half hour, probably be 12:00 local time by the time we land.

Beer was sold at the bars in the ground till about 15 mins after kick off last night. Then open again at half time.

  • Absolutely impossible to find somewhere to eat. Apparently it's zero percent beer at the stadium.

At La Charcu where they're serving nibbles out a hatch with your pint

It was all non alcoholic beer they were selling. I asked and she told me but they didn't appear to be telling unless asked.

Young lad sitting behind me fell and smashed his head off the concrete so probably not a bad thing

They were selling cans of Heineken.
There was a choice of can or draft.

I brought my own cans of magners in anyway :)
