    As per DeGiro website:

The Dutch Investor Protection Scheme (Beleggerscompensatiestelsel) is applicable, as DEGIRO is a licensed investment firm authorised by the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) for the provision of investment services.

This scheme protects individual clients up to €20,000.

Does this refer to cash liquidity left on the account only (not invested) ? If for example I have 50k on my DeGiro account, all invested in different stocks, I guess once I own the stock DeGiro has nothing to protect me from and only act as intermediary, so the money invested should be safe? Am i missing something here?

Also interested in this. What's a typical protection cover with an Irish broker?

not sure to be honest - I really love the DeGiro platform, both for the low fees but especially because it is extremely straight forward and user friendly. I am really curious about the 20k limitation though as it seems really low, and I really wonder if this is for cash only (and stock are protected anyway by the company you own shares of) or whether it includes everything.
