Audi A4 '05? BMW 316i?

Looking at a few A4s of this vintage currently as they seem a decent option for the kind mileage I'm doing at the minute. If anybody would like to share their own experiences of them or what kind of thing you'd advice looking out for that'd be most welcome. My father has always driven Audi's and although I won't say they've never give him trouble they definitely seem like a great option whenever you're having to do a long daily drive and they seem really comfortable.
Also considering something like an 08 BMW 316i (would prefer a larger engine model,as I would with the Audi, but unfortunately as I've only recently returned from abroad my lack of any decent NCB means I'm limited to about a 1.6L or else insurance costs start to shoot up). Any thoughts/experiences with these also greatly appreciated! Thanks

If it's comfort you're after, I'd look at a SAAB 9-3, approx the same size as the A4/3-series but you'll get a much fresher exemple for the same budget. They're also fairly reliable, and shouldn't break the bank over insurance as they're pretty safe, worth getting a few quote before buying though to be safe.

Cheers, was actually looking at them as well, they look nice but there wasn't too many coming available. Ended up getting 2005 A4 with 109k miles on it for just over a grand. Only a 1.6L petrol so underpowered for the size of the car but that meant insurance didn't cost any extra, lovely leather interior and very comfortable so far
