    fair enough.
the program doesn't bother me either way as i won't be watching it. it's not something that is likely to interest me.

I'm very highly educated. I know words, i have the best words, nobody has better words then me.

Don't you know that poor Kathryn Thomas needs the money?

Didn't you see here on RTE the other night, telling her very sad story?

Good old RTE to the rescue, there's no way they are going to let one of their cronies go bust, when they can easily throw her a lucrative contract... at the licence payers exclusives expense.

    Thanks,

    G.

And here comes more complete rubbish from RTE - again, featuring RTE cronies, who I'm sure are getting will paid..

    https://www.rte.ie/tv/programmes/1124900-keys-to-my-life/

    This is really getting intolerable

    Thanks,

RTE's core mission is focused on the financial betterment and security of tenure for all of the quango's stars and staff.
The days of them being a reputable impartial national broadcaster are well gone.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,483 ✭✭✭garrettod

    ....

we all need to speak up - not in an aggressive or nasty manner, but to be very clear about what we want from OUR publicly owned state broadcaster, and what we won't tolerate.

I suggest that we also email the Minister for Communications, insisting that they act in our national interests and take charge of RTE, to whip it into shape. No harm copying your FF / SF TDs also, given Richard Bruton is the outgoing Minister and may not get the gig again, when we finally get a new government.

Here are the contact details, so everyone can start emailing :

    https://about.rte.ie/contact/contact-details/

    https://www.dccae.gov.ie/en-ie/about-us/contact-us/Pages/Minister's-Office.aspx

Don't leave it to someone else, we all need to take action here and force change.

    Thanks,

    G.

This might not be a welcome suggestion but maybe, just maybe mind, you could wait to condemn the programme until you have actually seen it.

As for me the format looks interesting I'll give it a try.

It's a merry go round at RTE, from one show to the next it's all about their "stars" getting paid a pretty penny for it

Complain when RTÉ don’t do home grown

Complain then when they do home grown

Seriously, your just moaning for the sake of moaning.....OT is one of the more popular shows, spin off not the worst idea.

The other show, no idea if good as it hasn’t even been on yet.

I’m all for RTÉ changing but pages and pages here about doing home grown now you have people complaining because they are?

Home grown as far as RTE is concerned is just regurgitating the same old people - look at the LLS
Wealth of talent out there but don't get a leg in unless they know someone in RTE

    Did you read the article

“newsreader Anne Doyle, footballer Frank Stapleton, Eurovision star Johnny Logan, Mrs Brown’s Boys Star Rory Cowan, country singer Margo O’Donnell and World Champion Ballroom Dancer and 'Dancing With The Stars’ judge Loraine Barry.“

Logan, Cowan and Stapleton are nothing to do with RTÉ. No idea on Barry and ODonnell

Yes complaint can be made about RTÉ but no point complaining just for the sake of it

Remember RTÉ have to cover all age groups

I would expect it aimed more towards the 50+ so it will get a good viewing

After this Katherine Thomas Covid Nation bollocks I'm never paying the TV licence again.

It's absolutely pathetic. I can't believe they had her on crying about some online business and now she all of a sudden has a show.are they even trying to hide the corruption at this stage.

I wouldn't be surprised if more and more people complain this time around about the 'sh*t' programming'. Remember, people will be stuck inside, they won't have much of the same choices-even Netflix will be limited because of Covid.

Oh wait-people are genuinely getting angry over this.

    https://twitter.com/search?q=%22Operation%20Covid%20Nation%22&src=tren

As for RTE's current spate of programming... this was commissioned and filmed before Covid 19. This isn't something that was 'Covid-19 is here, we need a new tv show-QUICK!!!'

RTE at the moment have latched onto the nostalgia train. It's the cheapest form of program to produce.
So now we'll have a 'This is your life' kind of show but involving houses.

I'm just waiting for "Lottie in Lockdown", streaming 24/7 on RTE Player (good luck trying to watch it), then a 2 hour recap everynight on RTE2. Join Dancing with the Staff CHAMPION Lottie Ryan at home as she prepares for her daily showbiz updates by reading the Daily Mail online on her phone! Then watch as she dials into the studio and talks utter shoyte and nonsense with Jennifer Zamparelli as they attempt to out-flatter each other with their circle jerk gee licking (metaphorically). Later watch as Lottie makes herself a cup of tea to show she's normal - just like you and me! Lottie will also do some dancing in the afternoon in her sitting room before resting and updating her various social media profiles befoe doing a face time call with Doireann Garrihy to catch up on their day's gruelling schedules. Then settle in as Lottie rewatches her triumphant win on Dancing with the Staff and tells you the viewers that she's delighted for you to have the honour to make her richer for doing nothing.

Sponsorship opportunities are available, please contact RTE Sales for futher details.

Follow that up with 'Baz Ashmawy tries to not kill his mammy' by wearing protective gown, gloves, and hand sanitizer so he doesn't infect her.

Or remember Nadia Forde's program on parenting...the one on the RTE player? (Oh, you didn't watch it... um...tough). Well now she'll have an RTE player show where she tries to protect her cherub from contracting Covid.

Oh... and then Eoghan will chime in with 'remember to listen to Greta Thurnberg...'.
(God, remember when, a few months back, it was all 'don't use single use times, reuse, recycle etc etc' fast forward a few weeks later, it's 'throw everything away after you use it'. People are abandoning their pets cos of this Covid thing).

Oh and Vogue--Jesus, HOW COULD I FORGET?!!! She's doing adverts for a washing powder-RTE, you'll be MINTED!! (Call me).

Yes Nevin, that’s the major and substantive issue with that post alright, not the content.

Technically you've just broken an actual paragraph into single sentences, and mis-spelt 'trouble'; but hey, feel free to cast aspersions.

Corruption would be the word used in most other countries. And consequences would follow.
But in Ireland, it is called "business as usual" for RTE.
