So I’m collecting my 2009 A3 1.9 TDI on Tuesday. It has 144,000 miles up on it and from what I can see timing belt was changed back in 2013 at around 83,000 miles. Was just wondering when I would have to look at getting it changed again? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for prompt reply. Any idea roughly what cost would be?

    I'd guess about 700.

Bit more than I expected but I suppose cheaper than a rebuild! Cheers

Ya I’d agree with the between 350-400 I know the dealers at 1 point where doing a deal on them for 380 all in it was hard for our place to compete. But if I’m doing the bag belts as a nixer I’d normally charge the price of the belt and pump in around 120 and then 150 for labor. Think that’s about the going rate anyway.

Sorry for my ott quote. Last time I got a timing belt done on that engine it cost me €780 granted it was from a main vw dealer and about 5 years ago. Must of seen me coming:)

700?? Not a chance id say, my a4 tdi was €480 for full kit including water pump, labour and that also included a fan belt tensioner pulley by a reputable audi indie here in cork...
