Spinal Accessory Nerve Injury - Help!!

    Hi all,

Following a neck injury a number of years ago, I have been living in hell and significant pain and discomfort. Ive had many different treatments over the years, phsysio, physical T, osteopath, acupuncture, deep tissue, amatsu etc... with little or NO results. I have also had fascia and nerve cortizon injections, which didnt help, and was advised helps 80% of similar injuries.

After much research, the most likely (self) diagnoses is Spinal Accessory Nerve Injury, which fits exactly with my current symptoms and history.

Spinal Accessory Nerve Injury is effectively an injury to one of the spinal nerves which controls the shoulders, and runs into the trapezius muscle.

My shoulder mechanics is currently all over the place, left shoulder is way up, and right has dropped down. I have a huge crawling or pins and needles sensation in left trapezius muscle, close to spine, and a lot of general pain deep in both shoulders. This has lead to a drop in my right leg, and difficulty walking and running. Ive had to give up all sports.

Im 39 years old guy and love being active, so this is a very difficult to deal with :(

I have been to Dr Poynton in the Mater private, and had an MRI. His diagnoses was not conclusive, other then there is some wear and tear in the C5/C6 discs. Post injections we discussed fusing the C5/C6 discs, which id rather avoid, but starting to consider more now given my plight- it cant get much worse :(

Can anyone recommend any other specialist spinal / nuero / nerve consultants in the country which may approach things differently?

Or maybe a very experienced alternative therapist which might be worth a visit?

    Thanks in advance.

    D

Has anyone any experience with laser treatment, which was recommended by a Physio today?
