Hello can anyone help me out with regard to me moving in with my girlfriend I’m on Disability allowance she works part time earning 210 and gets fis for one child of 171 Euro a week

Didsabitly advised us to apply for adult dependent but the fis also says I can keep my full allowance and she takes a reduction in fis on the renewal

Could we apply for household Benefits package and fuel allowance?

I had a go at working it out but don’t seem able to

That Benidorm package sounds attractive, but wouldn't you prefer Fuengirola? :D

More seriously, from the eligibility criteria for the HBP it appears that you could be eligible for it, as long as your gf either keeps getting the WFP (formerly FIS) or goes onto your DA payment as your QA.

The fuel allowance is means tested, so it depends on your household's weekly income. Best thing to do would be to apply and let DSP decide.

If you can get to a local Citizens Information office, they should be able to help you calculate the best option for the two of you.

Your DA will be €270 if you claim for her and the child
    Her FIS will be €25
So your weekly household income will be
    €270
    €210
    €25.
    =€505
May affect your HAP if you have it and your medical card.
    You will qualify for HBP.

Thank you that’s the calculation I was having trouble with

You will no longer be eligible for winter fuel allowance as you will no longer be living alone.

    That's not true ,

Just because they are living together it doesn't mean the op is no longer entitled to fuel allowence.

But only one will get it if they are on a joint claim

Fuel allowance is paid to the household. Only one claim per household is allowed.

Would it be possible for you to mind the child full time and let your gf work full time.?

You will note I have disability benefit it’s for a terminal illness not that it’s any of your business so if my girlfriend chooses to work partime to assist looking After me I think she’s a much better person than you will ever be judging by your comment

Sorry to hear that - have you and she investigated the possibility of her getting carer's benefit / carers allowance, either now or down the line?
