W/Machine Motor: removing pulley

    Hello
    This is an old Bosch w/machine with a Siemens motor.
    I need to remove the motor belt pulley in order to replace the bearing. It's not secured by a bolt as I'd expected. It looks like a press fit.
    I thought I'd have have a go at it with a pullers but I'm wondering if the pulley will go back on securely afterwards. Any tips welcome.

    The brushes are very worn too but that's a secondary problem. No point looking for parts until I sort out the pulley. Thanks

    Based on info from a youtube video removing the pulley is real chore that my bearing pullers won't cope with. According to a local repair shop the pulley will "never come off". (I don't think he wanted the job!)

    Anyone know of a source for a new or second-hand armature or a second-hand motor? Siemens motor 304 7563 AA3

    Hydraulic press is really what you need to take it off and push it back on again

    Have you tried heating the pulley and using a pullers...?

    That was the plan. But the face on the stem of my pullers is too wide and flat. Trying to wedge a steel pin between pulley and pullers is another complication. (Just occurred to me: a ball bearing might be a better option)

    Looking at the youtube vid it will need serious heat and force.

    The machine has given long service. Shame to give up on it for the sake of a (cheap) bearing.

    if you heat it you will break down the insulation in the armature windings and probably loosen the plastic cooling fan, you will need a hydraulic pullers and a 1/4 drive 8mm socket to extract it or a press as has been suggested. the pulley will go back in ok just put a drop of locktite on the shaft

    The hydraulic press was the solution - and seeing how much pressure it required any use of heating and pullers I could have applied would have been futile.

    New carbon brushes and all reassembled. Makes a change to look forward to doing the laundry.
    Plus I've now discovered a helpful local engineering company who'll do some small welding jobs for me.
