Slurry and Nitrates

There's more than likely a few lads here that know this stuff inside out.

It's in regards to slurry and the max amount that can be put on silage ground in a year. I'm talking without derogation.

Am l right in saying the max amount of slurry that can spread is 170kg/ha/yr? I made it up and if I'm correct, then that's around the 3000gal/acre. That's without accounting for grazing.

So if taking 2 cuts, in practical terms, slurry can only really be put out the once?

PM me please if some1 can answer my queries.

No. Its all my own slurry.

Once it's your own slurry and didn't originate somewhere else you can spread as much as you like. If you go to agfood and the nitrates section it'll tell you the figure you were at last year. It will include the stocking rate and any fert bought in so imcludes the slurry you produced. No limits on what you can spread slurry wise if it's your own. Silage ground here may get up to 15k gallons over a number of applications in any given year

Thanks Moooo for replying. This is the line from DAFM that l am referring to. As l say l would not be great with this crack but it got me thinking when l read it. Like is this an average figure for the entire farm? Or are you technically allowed to put out any amount on one parcel (say silage ground) if none on others and average is under 170kg/ha/yr?

    Nitrates Information

Under the Nitrates Regulations (S.I. 31 of 2014 ) farmers must not apply more than 170kgs of nitrogen from livestock manure per hectare per year. Compliance with the Nitrates Regulations is one of the Statutory Management Requirements under the Single Payment Scheme

I have looked up my Nand P statements and l am well below. I knew this anyways as l farm extensively. It's just slurry amounts on a certain small number of acres that I'm concerned about.

As l say, l don't want to get anyone in trouble. I just want a definitive answer on this that would stand up to a department inspector.

    Thanks guys.
