The bigger (more expensive ones) or small local one man bands. I haven't priced any before I ask around for a recommedation . Which would you go for?

I would second what Shelly22 has written; go with recommendations where possible. Where not, there is no harm in trying a few. It's all about finding the right one for you and sticking with it. Each instructor will be different and have different views on some elements of driving. Find one that works for you. :)

I was told to avoid any that have "school" in their name.

    Worked for me.
