Yes it's easier but you get used to a manual very quickly. Driving an auto limits you to driving an auto if you pass your test in one.

While automatics in high end cars are excellent (usually) smaller cars can be hit and miss.

Yes but always learn with a manual, no point in having an Auto licence as it'll be restricting when it comes to car buying choices.

Manual is more fun except when stuck in stop and start traffic.

I'd say more convenient than easier.

It's easy to wash dishes in a basin of hot water with washing up liquid - but a dishwasher may be more convenient - but that doesn't mean hand washing is more difficult.

Yes, it's easier; no need to worry about a clutch or gear changes, just put it in drive and go.

Just be aware that doing the test in an auto will limit you to auto cars unless you retake it in a manual later, which also means you'll have a more limited selection of cars available to buy or rent and they may be more expensive. If that isn't a big deal to you, then there's nothing wrong with driving an automatic, if you prefer it.

Driving manuals is an additional level of skill within a very broad skill set you need to develop to become a competent driver. Nothing that some practice and experience won't fix. Don't overestimate how much easier the whole learning experience will be and the compromises are significant.

I love automatic cars but even at the moment, there's a current thread regarding a driver wishing to repeat their test in a manual to remove the auto transmission restriction.
