Capturing a mobile data signal

My best place to receive this signal seems to be on the roof (35MBPS) although I can also get it very similar (+/-25 Mbps) in one or two windows with line of sight to the mast.

Can I capture this signal on the roof and lead it down with a cable so as to position a router centrally in the house?

One more thing , if the original signal is stronger can the router spread it wider or is the spread more determined by the router itself?

You need a 4G router with antenna connectors and an external antenna.

The coverage around your house then is depending on the wifi of the router. That has nothing to do with your mobile data signal.

What are those routers called? Just 4g routers and look for the specifications.

Same question (as per the OP) for the wifi...will a stronger incoming signal spread the outgoing signal further or is ANY difference largely dependent on the wifi itself.

Say the incoming signal was 24 times stronger (it does seem to be ) than previously can I expect an increase in range of the wifi signal of 2 or 3 times the radius or more like the same as before?

Do some routers have better range than others or is it just better to share the signal through the house's electrical cabling if needed?

There's different routers like that. Try in the "Midband" section https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=1147 , which is for midband type internet, like 3G/4G.

As for the signal from the router: the wifi has nothing to do with your incoming signal.

So by getting a stronger signal on the 4G you will not magically get more coverage around the house.

If you have full bars on the wifi or only one bar missing, you should be able to use near the full of what the router receives.

If you only have 1 or 2 bars, then it'll be crap no matter how good the broadband is at your router.

The outside signal has no influence on that.

How far from [Good signal place] is [central place]?

If its more than 5m of cable ideally you should put the antennae up, run cables to just inside the house, then ethernet the rest of the way to an access point for devices to hit with wifi. Ethernet at 100m is the same as Ethernet at 1m, the same cannot be said for the signal from your antenna.

    E5186
    +
    C20i
    +
    Antenna
    +
    CAT5E cables

    For example.

Yes ,more than 5 metres (10 anyway)

So I should go ahead with a Vod plan which includes a router
    http://shop.vodafone.ie/shop/mobile-broadband/vodafone-4g-router-cat-6-bill-pay
and connect it to an outdoor antenna (don't understand why you say "antennae" -just the one ,no?

with the antenna cable reaching just into the house where I join it up with an ethernet cable leading to a centrally placed router.

The exterior bits I will have to pay for myself on top of the Vodafone (or Three if they are transmitting as well) I suppose..

Buy all your own kit off the shelf, forget the MNOs crap. They mostly stock the bodge options.

35MBPS -> Hints you've got 4G not 3G right? (44Mbps is possible on 3G but not common) If its 4G is antennae as you use a pair (in one body). Thus the two ports below:

    HUAWEI-E5186_25.jpg

3 AYCE is 20€/28 days and unlimited. Vodafones packages are not as generous. Id test 3 speeds first, if crap then go Vodafone as a fallback.

No you go with the strongest and fastest signal in your area, one simple way to check that is turn off all mobiles phones and 3G/4G
devices In your house, then do a speedtest on a Vodafone 4G phone and a 3 4G.phone.
Do this after 6 on a school day preferably in the rain, fastest connection should get your money.
Cat 5 starts to suffer over 20m not 5m and if the signal is strong you should not need an external arail just the router positioned correctly in your House.

It is a mast that doesn't show up on the cometh siteviwer (yet,I suppose) but is due to be transferred to Vod or 3 in June.

But the signal is so good I think they must already be transmitting.

My existing Wimax operator told me this and wants me to upgrade then but I think they don't have the same speeds.

Pretty sure it is 4g as that what my phone says(where I got the speed from too)

What phone are you using, there's very few phone can pick up 4G+ thinking the Samsung s8 was the firs on 3 and Vida, any phone before them you can't get full speed.

Wrong - 347 Models on GSMArena + a chunk of Chinese phones that are only on Kimovil.

    Le Max 2, Released 2016, May - LTEA 2CA. S8 was Released 2017, April.

Maybe you should lay off the sauce

Yea sauce was the cause of the first statement, i'm just looking at it now going what???

When I said s8, was talking about phones sold here via the networks. the S8 can run on Gigabit LTE. OP has a J3 so can't run as quick as the network.
