I'd be of the view that if your brother has to ask a question like that then he shouldn't be doing the job.

Why would the ABS light come on if he did everything as it should be done?
I stand by my original view. Your funeral so to speak!

He very clearly knows nothing about cars and shouldn't be touching brakes

Ya if he’s doing pads and worrying about a abs light I wouldn’t let him near a bike never mind my brakes. There’s a lot of people claim to know how to do a lot of stuff. But having the experience is another thing.

Doing brakes on a car with ABS is pretty much the same as without them. Just need to be careful with the sensor wires and on some early systems it's best to let brake fluid out from bleeders while pushing down the pistons on the callipers instead of pushing the fluid back toward the abs pump.

As ABS has been standard equipment with cars for many moons it's time for your brother to get acquainted with them if he's planning to work on cars in the future. How many people that claim that your brother knows nothing about cars have done any work on their own cars?

No need to open the bleed nipple at all for this job. And the brake pad sensor u mention hasn’t anything got to do with the abs system per say.

Economic mode is where engine turns off when stopped.

He should have no issues with abs light.
He won't be touching the abs sensor.
Pad wear warning if currently lit should go off once pads are changed for correct ones with wear sensor.

Personally, I always open the bleed screw at the caliper. I don't like pushing fluid all the way back through the system. I then take the opportunity to run some fresh fluid when bleeding.
